1st Nador Caisson Floated
This video illustrates a success story. The loading out the 3,000 tonne caisson (that had been slipformed on land) is shown onto a semi-submersible barge.

Hydrostatic stability issues associated with float out and installation are addressed. Free surface effects within the multi-compartment structure are shown to be a significant limitation on the construction operations. A closed-form solution is presented to motions of the floating caisson in waves and swell, in shallow water during installation, implemented in Excel. This enables better planning of weather windows for construction and installation activities.

Any structures that operate in a marine environment, including offshore drilling rigs, risers, mooring systems, marine vessels, wave power systems, and offshore wind generator facilities, provide unique design and operational challenges that often require significant resources and ingenuity to overcome. Many companies rely on the extensive knowledge and experience of engineer consultants to help provide critical analysis of these problems and devise piratical, cost-efficient solutions.
